Rebates for Clinical Psychology
Mental Health Care Plans
With a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP or psychiatrist, you are entitled to a Medicare rebate of $145.25 per session* for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Please discuss your eligibility and organising a Plan and referral with your usual medical provider.
Eating Disorder Management Plans
Clients with an Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP) are eligible for Medicare rebates for psychological treatment sessions. This plan typically provides access to up to 40 sessions per calendar year, depending on clinical need and regular reviews with your doctor. Please discuss your eligibility with your usual GP or psychiatrist.
Private Health Insurance
Most private health funds offer rebates for clinical psychology services under their 'Extras' cover. While the amount varies depending on your provider and policy, we recommend contacting your fund directly to determine your specific level of coverage. Please be aware you may claim a rebate for each session from either Medicare or your Private Health Fund, but not both.
Rebate Claiming Process
We aim to assist you in navigating the administrative aspects of your mental health journey. Follow these four steps to initiate and process your clinical psychology Medicare rebates effectively.

GP Assessment
Discuss your mental health with your General Practitioner to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan. This is required for Medicare eligibility.

Referral Submission
Provide your referral and Plan details to our practice before your first appointment to ensure you receive your Medicare rebate from your first session.

Session Settlement
Upon session completion, pay the full fee as per your invoice. We will then provide a formal receipt containing all required clinical provider information for your Medicare claim.

Claim Processing
Submit your receipt via the MyGov portal or your private insurer app to receive your rebate. Funds are typically disbursed to your account within 48 hours.
